Simba doesn't know what to make of the noisy shadows outside. They're preparing patios and stairways for painting this week in my complex. :-)

Stormy 2001-2015

I normally limit my posts to fun or informative things, but my heart is broken.  My cat Stormy passed away Saturday night.  He was the sweetest cat I've ever known and was my buddy.  I adopted him from the shelter in 2001 as an underweight kitten after he was on our KNDO/KNDU noon show as the Pet Of The Week, so he could grow up with my (now 17 year old) first adopted cat Simba from ID.  I let the good people of WA & OR pick names for him, and "Stormy" won the vote.  Simba and Stormy have moved with me from WA to NM to CA.  He was able to surmount a hyperthyroid problem for several years and never stopped being my pal.  He always made sure to join me on the bed at bedtime, and he had his own complex path to walk before either crawling under the sheets with me or laying on the pillow behind my head.  I'll never forget his sweet disposition, his high squeaky meow, or the fact he didn't bite anyone his entire life.  I'm just glad I could spend the last 10 hours of his life with him on the couch, petting and brushing him, giving him water and food and trying to keep him cool.

Record-Breaking Day's Sunset

After a record-breaking 95 degree day in many parts of California's Central Coast, this was my sunset view...one of the prettiest I've ever seen!  :-)

Car Pampering

It's a nice day to pamper my 1998 Honda Accord with its 150,020 miles...after getting its oil changed I cleaned the fairly tidy interior.  To my amazement, I've been driving this car 16 years and I discovered a small drawer that I never knew was there!  It just never occurred to me that it was a drawer...just thought it was decorative like the "drawers" in front of a bathroom sink.  If a tiny Jimmy Hoffa had been inside, it would have been the best-kept secret ever! :-)

150,000 Miles

It's taken just over 16 years but my good ol' car reached 150,000 miles last night!  My '77 Chevy Nova made it 138,000+ miles until 1998, and my '98 Honda Accord is still going strong!  I better treat it to an oil smoothie and a pedicure (tire rotation) today... :-)
